Sholokhov Pyotr Ivanovich (Пётр Иванович Шолохов) – is an artist-realist, painter, expert in a field of graphics, graduate from Vkhutemas, an apprentice of Abram Archipov. He is a member of the Union of artists (1932). A museum under his name was opened in Borisoglebsk of Voronezh oblast. He is also an author of the book «From the viewpoint of an artist: countrymen, colleagues, the Second World War» (М.2009). == Biography == Sholokhov Pyotr Ivanovich was born 5 of October 1898 in Borisoglebsk of Voronezh oblast in merchant family. From 15th until 20th years of the twentieth century he studied in an art studio of Borisoglebsk. In 1920 he moved to Moscow and got enrolled into Vkhutemas, was apprentice of Favorsky and Pavlinov until 1923 and got transferred to the workshop of Archipov. In 1929 he became a member of the Association of revolution artists. Sholokhov was a participant of republic and all-union exhibitions. In 1959 and 1975 personal exhibitions of the artist took place in Moscow. Sholokhov is an author of pictures of military theme and picturesque outlines in Yasnaya polyana, in different places which are connected to the life of Tolstoy and in Melichov where Chechov set his foot. Sholokhov was a teacher of drawing in Verhniy Karachan of Gribanovsky district. In 1950 he visited Borisoglebsk, where he created a lot of works, having captured different parts of city. Pyotr Ivanovich had a tendency to the genres of portrait, landscape and still life and lots of his works were dedicated to landscapes of Borisoglebsk and its surroundings. In 1941 Pyotr Ivanovich got drafted into army and being at the front, in dugouts the author managed not only to paint decorations and portraits of generals with new medals, posters and nameplates in the graves of the perished, but was able to talk about Mayakovsky and Esenin, argue about contemporary tendencies in the art. If he had a free minute, then the artist began to paint military paysages where he showed dugouts, burnt forests, the remains of peasant`s houses and roads. Sholokhov was named «The singer of Borisoglebsk and its surroundings». In postwar years he was working out industrial themes, created famous paintings like «the plant of Hammer and Sickle». Pyotr Ivanovich was a professor in a studio of publishing house «Pravda». In 1982 he donated more than 100 of his works to art museums of Voronezh and Borisoglebsk.
